Financial
Capacity Builders Initiative
Background:
Caring neighbors helping others has
become a very successful outreach program for ACTN. To date,
community members have volunteered to mentor "neighbor families"
(perhaps in the same zipcode or an adjacent zipcode) in their
"struggle" to manage their income and expenses.
Who could become a
capacity builder?
Community
members who can commit themselves and their time and energies to the
success of families who need guidance and encouragement.
Knowledge of banking, real estate, personal finances, small
business startup, or how to help young people make career or
education decisions is very useful, but not required if a volunteer's
primary assets are a compassion for others and a passion for mentoring.
Preference is given to residents of zipcodes listed below.
Purpose of the
Financial
Capcity Builders Initiative:
- Improve the financial security and quality of life
for
families
within the targeted zipcode(s). (Zipcodes are listed below.)
- To mentor families as they build on tangible
assets and enhance their incomes or business revenues.
- Create sustainable employment and/or training
opportunities
for
families in our communities
